This is a mixture of gases (nitrous oxide 50% and Oxygen 50%). It is inhaled through a single use mouth piece. Gas and Air is available in all the delivery rooms. It is safe for you and your baby and provides very good pain relief during labour.
You can use your Gas and Air at any point during your labour. Your midwife will provide instructions on how to use it. You can use Gas and Air while having an epidural sited and even afterwards if you find it improves the quality of the pain relief .
