This machine replaces the function of your kidneys.
When working, a number of pipes and bags of fluids are attached to it.
The machine draws blood from the patient and passes it through a filter which removes a number of the body’s waste chemicals. It also removes fluid from the blood. The machine draws that blood from a ‘line’ in one of the large veins either in the groin or those around the shoulder / neck area. The machine is constantly monitored by the nurse looking after the patient.
